Our penguin lessons are aimed at children between the ages of 5-7 years old, regardless of their ability. Lessons are taught on a 1-2-1 basis and typically last 30 minutes.
The lessons are dynamic, meaning we start at whatever level the child is at. If they are a complete beginner, they will be taught from the very beginning, such as how to put skis on, how to move about with them on, then when they are ready, moving onto the actual slope. For children who have already done some skiing, the focus is then moved to whatever level they are at.
It is worth considering (not only just for penguin lessons) that during a lesson, an instructor may take them back a few steps before moving onto the next focus area. This should not be considered a backwards step, but instead, a way to reinforce knowledge or technique, but also to correct any foundation level issues before moving on.
It is not possible to tell how many lessons a child will need before they are ready for open practice as each child is different and our penguin lessons are typically performed at a slower pace to ensure the child is enjoying themselves.
Children learn differently from adults and it is crucial that a child has fun during the lessons, so games may be incorporated into the lesson to aid learning a particular skill or technique.
Prices for Penguin lessons are £XX per 30 minutes and are typically available on weekends and weekday evening slots during our open periods.
